4) What is yellow no. 5, and is it harmful?
Yellow no. 5 is a coloring that is used in foods to make
it look more appealing to consumers (you and me). However,
in 1986 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that
fewer than 1 in 10,000 people had an allergic reaction
to the food dye. The allergic reactions are typically mild
and symptoms were usually hives.
